Spain, the most sought after tourist spot of Europe is most popular for impeccable beaches, historical churches, cathedrals, castles, etc. Interestingly Spain has spared no efforts to preserve many of the structures, monuments, art and artifacts which are believed to have been carried out by people belonging to earlier civilizations. Among the structures constructed during these civilizations are the palaces. Many of these palaces are preserved even to this day. Let us take a tour of these palaces:
Berdin Palace:
This palace is located in the Asturias province of Spain. It is believed to have been constructed in the 18th century. Contrary to the normal perception, this palace is sans decoration. Historians do not seem to have any definite reason as to why the palace is not decorated. Even the walls of the palace which are masonry works using Stone do not have any type of decoration. Of course the interior of the palace is decorated, though not luxuriously. The palace is quite spacious. The inner courtyard consists of gallery, spacious stage and it is a huge structure having monolithic columns. Although the building is sans decoration, it has maintained its aesthetic beauty and it is certainly a beautiful building.
Bertemati Palace:
This palace is located in the town Jerez de la Frontera of the Cadiz province, Jerez de la Frontera. According to historians, this palace is believed to have been built by one of most influential families of those days called the ‘Sopranis Davila family’. Historians say that this palace has been built during the 18th century. This palace has been built on one of the inner slopes of a channel where a stream passes through. Historians believe that this place has been chosen because it is very difficult for the enemies to gain access to the palace. The palace is constructed in such a way that two houses are accommodated in one building. The heirs of the family used the palace as an office for administering their business. However, the government and some of the local people succeeded in persuading the heirs to return the palace to the government and thereafter the government has been successful in taking up work of restoration of the palace. Like the Berdin Palace, even the Bertemati palace is not luxuriousy decorated. The palace has spacious rooms.
These two palaces are worth to be seen by every visitor to Spain.
